I posted this here because I just love these as dinner or an appetizer. These are great as rolls or even breasticks. My favorite is to wrap this dough around grilled smoked sausages (in the pic below). Pepper Knots 1 c. water 1/4 c. olive oil 1 T. sugar 1 1/2 t. salt 1 T. coarsely ground black pepper 1 T. fennel seeds 2 1/2 c. flour (up to another 1/2 c.) 2 t. yeast Place in bread machine & use dough cycle. Check after 5 to 10 minutes to see if you need to add more flour (I always need to add more). When the dough is done, cut into 16 pieces. Cover with damp cloth & let rest 10 minutes. Roll each piece into an 8-inch rope. Twist into a knot, tucking the ends underneath. Place the rolls on 2 lightly greased cookie sheets and cover loosely with lightly sprayed plastic wrap. Set aside until doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 450º for about 20 minutes, until golden brown. Cool completely on wire racks.
