This is my great grandma's recipe. These are the best sandwich buns I've ever had and mom made them often for family functions.
Gram's Sweet Buns
1 pint luke warm water 1/2 cup sugar plus 2 TBS 1/2 cup butter 1 tsp salt 1 large cake yeast Enough flour to make elastic dough
Cream butter, sugar and salt well. Add yeast to warm water and dissolve. Add to the creamed butter mixture and beat unit well mixed. Add in flour to make like a bread dough consistency. Knead until soft and elastic, adding flour as needed.
Cover and let rise in a warm and draft free place until doubled in size. Punch dough down and break off pieces of dough the size of eggs and shape into round balls, then flatten. Place in greased pans and let rise again. Bake 350° for approximately 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
**NOTE: I use round pie pans for mine but any pan with sides will work.
