This is a brown sugar fudge and very different from regular fudge. It is a staple in our house around the holidays. This is my mom's grandmothers recipe.
This is a brown sugar fudge and very different from regular fudge. It is a staple in our house around the holidays. This is my mom's grandmothers recipe.

2 cups light brown sugar 1 cup sugar 2 TBS butter, at room temperature 1 TBS Karo light corn syrup Dash salt 1 cup whole milk 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/2 cup chopped nuts (I prefer walnuts but pecans are good too)
Combine first 6 ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Cook to the softball stage on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm. Add vanilla and nuts. Beat with wooden spoon until creamy. Pour into lightly buttered pans. Cool and then cut into squares.
